Well, I'm truly surprised to get a response. I'm so used to christian sites deleting my posts when confronted. Thank you for answering.
Based on your responses I wonder why God didn't simply poof them out of existance, supposedly being able to do anything, instead of making people die in agony. Does this not make him as evil as those he judged? He could have made them vanish without suffering.
Was this not done out of the jealousy of other gods? Does this not also make him vengeful and cruel? I still fail to see where this makes him kind and loving. Why not simply just wave his hand and have all people be instantly moral?
I know you will answer "free will" but since this was an experiment of his that didn't work then why not just "poof" the evil out of them? Doesn't this mean he is imperfect since his experiment failed? For that matter if he is "all-knowing" why didn't he know it was going to happen?
If he is all-seeing why then did he have to ask Adam where he was in the garden of eden?
Some other passages I'm curious about:
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things. (Isaiah 45:7)
Why would a supposedly moral all-loving god create evil? Does this not make him evil as well? Why would anyone in their right mind follow a god that creates such a thing only to get some sick enjoyment out of watching people suffer? Doesn't this just make us playthings for his twisted amusement?
What about this? "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren and sister, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:26)
And every one that hath foresaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. (Matthew 19:29)
Seems god wants everyone to spend their earthly life homeless and hating everyone around them. And what does he mean by receiving a hundredfold? A hundredfold of what? He promises everlasting life in exchange but since he wants people to hate each other then wouldn't this be just hating each other forever? Why would he want parents to forsake their children? Wouldn't you then have many thousands of children starving in the streets? If people had really followed this rule we would not be here today because noone would have continued to procreate. It seems god didn't think this through which doesn't make him either omniscient nor omnipotent.
One final passage I'm really curious about:
And God said, let us make man in our image. (Genesis 1:26)
Notice the "us" and "our"? Why would he say us and our unless he was speaking to other gods? There can only be one logical conclusion from this. If you take the passage as the literal word of God(and you must because if you don't then that leaves the conclusion that all other passages are possibly erroneous as well) then he is saying there is more than one god! Either that or the Bible is just a book with made up parables written by primitive people who lacked the intelligence and foresight to think things through before putting them in the book.
Thank you again, Carol, for responding to my previous post and I look forward to your response to these.
