ArchivedNo justification for beliefGreat job in answering those questions carol. But I want to expand on your first answer to Sane's question. Basically, carol answered the question. But I want to generalize it, the way Paul generalized the Old Testament when he first started preaching. When God first made the earth, He had a direct relationship with man, as you can see from Adam and Eve. Even through Adam and Eve's children, God had a direct relationship. But even with God there, man was still sinful. There was no question that all of man knew God existed, but that did not stop them from sinning. Men were killing without conviction, and were starting to be proud. In other words, it was not pretty. That is why God had to take those who wanted to follow Him (Noah, etc), and save them. Now, God invited anyone who wanted to be saved. But people were getting married, and enjoying their sinful life while Noah and others were getting into the arc. God warned the people that He was going to flood the earth. But they were like "Neh, whatever." You know how us humans are. So God saved those who were willing to follow Him and distroyed the others. Now this bought a second generation, which was Noah's generation. We are still in that generation, because God has not (according to my knowledge) flooded the earth a second time. Now in Noah's generation, God does not have the same direct relationship He had with the first generation. God knows man will still sin, regardless of His presence. As humans, we get too comfortable and start doing what we want. That was the case when we had a direct relationship with God. During Noah's generation, there was a man named Abraham. God promised Abraham that a mighty nation was to be formed from His seed. That is where you get Isreal. The people of Isreal came from the seed of Abraham. Now the people of Isreal were slaves to the Egyptians and God used Moses to free them. God used Isreal and not other nations because Isreal was the lowest of the low. God will manifest and gloryify (as carol said) Himself, by using something weak and making it strong. The other nations that God destroyed by using Isreal was to show God's power through His people. The nations across the world were idol worshippers and evil in the sight of the Lord. But God warned them that Isreal was to come take over their land. As carol said, God warned them before hand, they could either join Isreal and dwell with them as strangers, or fight and die against them. But as humans we are too proud, so we end up fighting for what we believe in, even if it is false. So you see, there is a sequence in God's plan. First He had direct relationship with us, but that did not work. Then He bought up a nation to show His power to the earth. Finally, He bought Jesus as our Saviour to die for our sins. Instead of continuing to use Isreal as a means of bloodshed to sinners, He caused sin to rest upon His own Son. And if you believe in Him and follow His commandments, you will be saved. |
