That may have been true - although it has now, of course. But I suspect it was much the same when women first gained full citizenship. "Never in recorded history" -- until they made history. Sometimes things need to be redefined. Actually you are wrong, in some ancient societies women had as many rights as men. You need to study anthroplogy.

If you want to legislate Biblical morality, should we not start with divorce (take the beam out of the heterosexual's eye) and then concern ourselves with the splinter in the gay community's eye.
Thank you -- I've made that argument myself, and generally seen it ignored, or dismissed as a "diversionary tactic." Not that I think anyone should be legislating Biblical morality, of course... but for some reason, when people try, homosexuality is much higher on their agenda than divorce. And I have a hard time interpreting that as anything but hypocrisy.
Oh, it is ignored however ignorance of God's will has the same consequence of ignorance of the law, ignorance will not keep you out of court.

Sure. And I'll remind you, too, the next time you quote Romans.
I should note that I'm not Christian, so I do generally try to avoid arguing Scripture interpretation with people who are. I should probably try harder... it just irks me, sometimes. I may never be able to get married, because of other people's religious beliefs... and to add insult to injury, their Biblical justification for those beliefs is generally full of holes.
The Bible is not full of holes, the way men use it is what causes the problem. Rom 1:1-7
1:1 Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, 2 which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, 4 who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord, 5 through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles, for His name's sake, 6 among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ; 7 to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
NAS
If you really want to debate the Bible you need to study it, in context, and with an open mind, then it will make sense and you will find their are not any holes, except those created by men.
