Apologetics Forum: Ask questions about Christianity/Debate doctrinescatholicsMore typical Catholic balderdash. The Bible is full of idioms that any Jew would understand, and that includes Genesis 15:15. Even Catholic expositors admit that in order to understand the Bible we must first understand Jewish idioms. What Saul believed is immaterial to God's truth and God's truth tells us that a "divine being" was conjured up by a witch. As to the souls in heaven, is the church a lampstand, does Jesus have a literal sword coming from his mouth, does the beast really have 7 heads and ten horns; Revelation is filled with symbolism. Also, no human being other than Jesus will be in heaven, therefore the 24 elders are not human beings, or did Paul also lie concerning the resurrection of the dead? Luke reported what Jesus taught, that Rome is the what a biographer does, they report and Jesus taught the masses with parables. Luke does report Jesus' explanation of the parables. Those blinded by tradition spend a lot of energy labeling Jesus a liar. God gave the Jews, not pagan Greeks the authority to decide what is and is not OT Scripture and the Jews rejected the Maccabees as Scripture. There are 5 books of Maccabees, so Catholicism is being hypocritical by keeping only 2 out of the 5 as canon. |
