The soul is different from the body and the spirit is also different from the soul. First Thessalonians 5:23 proves that the school of dichotomy is incorrect. Lets take a look at the Greek text, spirit and soul and body consists of three nouns and two occurrences of the conjunction kai, meaning "and". These three nouns denote three different items. So how on earth did you come to the conclusion that 1 Thessalonians 5:23 is just a "figure of speech"? When the body and the spirit were combined together, the soul of man was produced (Gen. 2:7). And what was your reply Aieno reply? Aieno Wrote: . "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him". 1 Cor 8:6 So why is it that the word "AND" in 1 Cor 8:6 does imply a distinction between God the Father and the Lord Jesus, but when the same word "AND" is used in 1 Thessalonians 5:23 it doesn't imply a distinction between the spirit and soul? Could it be a distinction that you have simply decided to ignore? You believe the "and" in 1 Cor 8:6 makes a DISTINCTION between God and Jesus, hence you use this to deny the Trinity. But when the SAME word "and" is used by the SAME writer (Paul), in the SAME Greek in 1 Thessalonians 5:23 you believe its a "figure of speech", because you deny that we are tripartite beings. I can see right through your smoke screen, stop taking us on a wild goose chase. What you are doing is twisting and turning the meaning of scripture to suit your specific beliefs. This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious. Hebrews 4:12 specifies “The word of God is living and operative and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow.” All three parts are once again articulated in this verse: the joints and marrow pertain to the body, and the soul is explicitly separate from the spirit. The word used in the Greek for spirit is pneuma The word used in the Greek for soul is psuche Stop using the word of God to spread your personal version of Christianity. |
