Scolaí: My parents raised me in the Assemblies of God
1st mistake
Scolaí: I attended a Baptist church in high school (honestly because that's where my girlfriend went to church)
2nd mistake:
Scolaí:I returned to Assemblies of God after my conversion in college.
3rd mistake:
Scolaí: I live on a corner; directly across the street from me is the Presbyterian church. Across the corner is a Methodist church. On the block behind me is the Episcopal church. People attending these churches park in front of my house and walk to their church. More than a good number of them have refused to respond to a polite hello that I offer from the front porch.
IMO, the superiority complex is trans-denominational (though not all members of any denomination have it).
And what is your point here? Everyone; has a superiority complex, including yourself:
Scolaí:There you have it. A new fundamentalist is born. Now the child can feel free to go about their life feeling superior to those who do not 'know Jesus'.
Not to mention stifling any semblance of independent thought.
Scolaí, heres the mistake that you, and many others make:
I grew up in the christian church. I personally converted to christianity in college
You claim the superiority complexes are multi- denominational?
Would you mind telling me what religous denominations have to do with Christianity?
Not a damn thing my friend.
Denominations=man made sects of religion. (And all men are sinful)
Christianity=Following in the footstep's of Christ.
Jesus is Truth and Salvation.
Doing something religous, is to do something for God without Christ.
Yet everyone I talk to, including people of this forum, still link a certian denomination here, or a certian one there as Christianity.
The fact that you used the excuse of your disgust of denominations as a reason to leave the path of following Christ, is quite lame and could be your downfall.
I was brought up Lutheran, and still attend a Lutheran church. But being a Lutheran doesn't make me a Christian. And there are quite a few people at my church with the same superiority complex that you have encountered.
I, nor my wife, associate with members of our church. We go there to associate with Christ.
If I became disgusted with my denomination, I would leave that denomination. I wouldn't use it as an excuse to leave Christ.
