ArchivedWhen CHILDREN ask about JESUS CHRIST.Of course, I would disagree with this...I'll bet you saw that coming Religion (and belief in any God, for that matter) is a human choice. If it were not a choice, it would be irrefutable (which it is not) and would be not just frequently practiced but the same, regardless of race, creed, gender, location, and upbringing. Eating is truth - people have to eat. Everyone eats. Not everyone 1) needs religion 2) believes religion. What makes anyone think that they have it "right" when there's no proof? Yes, I'm including myself in the mix here - I'm not going to dog anyone's belief because I could very well be wrong. I also have the understanding that I may just have it right. The difficulty that I have is that there is plenty of science and logic out there to tell us what is true. If the Bible told you that nighttime was when the sun was out does that mean that we have to change the definition of day? I raise my son to choose for himself - which is something that many parents do not raise their children to do. I raise my son to question and analyze, once again, something that many others do not do. I teach my son to check multiple sources in order to discover the truth. The Bible, which may or may not be true, is once source - created and translated (primarily) for political agendas that have since passed. I can recognize the Bible for what it is - a collection of stories. I do not have "faith" in the book, therefore I do not trust it's supposed accuracies beyond what has been proven elsewhere. My son does not follow my path. I'm fine with that - he can decide on his own religion. What I will not do is lie to him and teach him that 1) he has to select a religion and 2) that one religion is superior to another. It simply is not true. Of course, as usual, this is one humble Pagan's opinion. Flame on... |
