There you have it. A new fundamentalist is born. Now the child can feel free to go about their life feeling superior to those who do not 'know Jesus'.
Not to mention stifling any semblance of independent thought.
IMO, a child's question on religion should have a response that includes at least a grain of intelligence, something that the preceding discourse is devoid of.
However, since a person's spiritual journey has to start somewhere, I suppose that this is as basic a beginning as any. I just hope that when the child reaches a more mature age, (s)he will be able to rationally examine a belief system without doctrinal bias.
