ArchivedA question for straight peopleActually you would be surprised at the number of Christians who understand and acknowledge that gay desires are not chosen. As to Jerry Falwell, this is a free country and I have no desire to muzzle him or you that is unless you propose we repeal the 1st Amendment. I have written Falwell a number of emails, which he has refused to respond to so I have already done my part to “muzzle” his bigotry and lack of knowledge and I can do no more. Psychological issues based on early childhood is one explanation. Hormonal imbalances and injuries in the womb are other possible explanations. There is not a single answer to your question. What God asked of Abraham and what God expected of Abraham are two different topics. The fact is Abraham did not sacrifice his son. It was a test of faith and obedience. So before you bring up “bizarre” Biblical accounts I suggest you study the Bible. If you are going to consider my responses to illogical and historically inaccurate remarks you post red herrings then don't post garbage that is easily disproved. I can’t think of any accounts of violence against gays, which have been perpetrated by a Christian. The accounts reported in the media involve non-Christians attacking gays. Resorting to violence is counter to what Christ and the Bible teaches. So I repeat, you are using Christianity as a convenient scapegoat for the violence perpetrated against gays. One last comment, you muzzle those in the gay community who throw hate, lies, and bigotry into the mix aimed at ex-gays and others who disagree with gay unions (not homosexuality per se) and we have a deal. I have had my life threatened by some gay men only because I am ex-gay and they fear that change is possible. That does not eliminate the possibility you have deep seated psychological issues that could be addressed by a competent therapist. |
