Why do you say that a little honest doubt is detrimental to faith? And why am I considered arrogant simply for clearing a few theological cobwebs?
The consecration of honest doubt is an honored Western tradition, going back to the ancient Greeks and continuing to the present day. This stance reflects the empirical fact that a person (any person) can be wrong at one time or another. I concede that I may commit errors in many aspects of life. Is this characteristic of an arrogant person? No, it is not. Arrogance is from those who do not concede the possibility of their own error.
I can be wrong, and YOU can be wrong. There is no question about that. If you are never wrong, then you are, in essense, claiming to be perfect, which is an attribute of God alone.
You demean me for my supposed lack of Biblical knowledge. I must assure you that I am not as ignorant as you suppose. For what it might be worth, I have taken courses at a well-known evangelical seminary in the United States. Not to mention 40+ years of Bible study which started when I was old enough to read! So who are you calling "young one"?
So tell me, Josh, what about my challenge? What would you do if YOU turn out to be wrong? Don't say that you cannot be wrong: now THAT is arrogant! Be a man, and tell me what you would do.
