I seem to have struck a raw nerve with my little thought experiment. But why should my suggestion be so controversial?
Thinking "outside the box" is not ignorant, but cowering inside the box, even the "salvation box", is.
To those who question my Christian faith: You do not know me, so how can you see inside my mind and soul? I may have a stronger and sounder faith than you do. Just a possibility.
A little bit of honest doubt is an essential part of Christian faith. Saint Augustine had this idea in mind when he once replied to a questioner that "if a man doubts, he lives."
