Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesFEW WERE SAVED BY WATERThe Greek word for "and" is "kai" in this passage and means: "and" or "even" in the sense of "the same as". Therefore, the verse could read as "...in the name of the Father even [the same as] the Son even [the same as] the Holy Ghost. That is why the Apostles and the early Christians baptized in the name of Jesus only. Acts 4:12 states there is no other name given other than the name of Jesus whereby we must be saved. In Col 3:17 whatever we do in word or deed [a deed covers baptism] is to be done in the name of Jesus. Tell me, if Jesus is the name of the Son in a trinity then what is the name of the Father? Could it be "Yahweh" or "Jehovah"? If so I addressed that issue in my post "ONE GOD-ONE NAME". And what is the name of the Holy Ghost? If they do have names then according to Phil 2:9 Jesus is the name above every name. And please explain Isaiah 9:6: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." What is the name of the Son? - Jesus. What is the name of The Mighty God? - Jesus. What is the name of the Father? - Jesus. Notice the six titles but ONE name. Or are there six separate and distinct persons? And please don't say the "Everlasting Father" in Isaiah 9:6 is someone other than the "Father" in Matthew 28:19 otherwise we would have two "Fathers". And how many Mighty Gods are there if not ONE? And what about in Romans 8:9 "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." Here we have the "Spirit of God" and the "Spirit of Christ". Are these two different Spirits in separate persons? If we add the Holy Ghost then we have three distinct persons as Spirits? So now believers have three Spirits indwelling them? How ridiculous! I cannot fathom what offends professing Christians about the name of Jesus? Is it because the "trinity" promotes Jesus as a "junior" God less in power than the other two? According to the "trinity" Jesus pre-existed as the co-eternal and co-equal Son with the Father and the Holy Ghost, all separate and distinct persons, correct? In what form did the Son pre-exist? - As a Spirit, correct? As a Spirit like the Father and Holy Ghost, the Son would have shared the attribute of being omnipresent as co-equal, correct? So what happened when Jesus became a man? He was an omnipresent Spirit that came to earth in bodily form therefore is God manifest in the flesh, correct? So tell me please, when Jesus was on earth as a man where was the omnipresent Spirit of the Son - on vacation in heaven or all become flesh? If the pre-existed Son all became flesh then that would mean he was not omnipresent and thus a limited being inferior to the Father, a junior God. Oneness Apostolics simply believe that God as omnipresent Spirit could manifest as a man without the necessity of another omnipresent Spirit Son to get the job done. |
