Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesFEW WERE SAVED BY WATERThey wrote: This contradicts the other scripture in no way. They wrote: What is faith? Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is the substance of things HOPED for. 1 John 3:3 - And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Everyman who has this hope (faith) in him, purifieth himself. 1 John 2:6 - He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. He that abides in Christ, should also walk as He walked. Matthew 10:38 - And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. Matthew 16:24 - Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. He tells us to follow in His steps. It says if we abide in Him, then we should walk like He did. They wrote: The gospels also teach that He was baptised and broke water again. Likewise, if we are to walk as He did, we get baptised as well. For He who has faith, will take up His cross and walked as He did by faith in God. Rom. 4:3, "For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness." People love to twist this scripture. Paul is refering to a prophecy made by God. James 2:23 - And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. And when Abraham's faith produced the work of him offering up Isaac, that prophecy was fulfilled. Faith without works is dead. As James said, show your faith by your works. So if we are to pick up our cross and follow Christ, we are to break water again as He did. They did recieve the Holy Spirit before baptism, but they were still baptized and broke water again as the apostles were commanded. They wrote: It is true that baptism is a sign of repentance. But what is the first step of salvation? It is repentance. As in Matt 3:11, John baptized unto repentance. What is the first things proclaimed in the gospel of the kingdom, but repent. Christ said my sheep follow me where ever I go. He broke water again, so His sheep follow His lead and break water again. They wrote: This person is letting you know that they are guessing. Look at their language. It seems to say... They don't even know what it says? They can only say it seems. They try to say lest there be a contridiction as a cop out. They cannot defend their position against the scripture because their position is the contradiction. All scripture has perfect cohesion. If your theology is contradicted by any scripture, it is wrong. But they try to make it seem as if you take the baptism necessity view, you are out of line with the rest of scripture. Peter told them to Repent, as John and Christ began. And He told them to be baptized, because he deemed it necessary. As with the gentiles who received the spirit before baptism. Even though they had already received the Spirit, Peter still saw a need for them to be baptized; otherwise, he would not have had them baptized. He was doing as he was instructed to do. They wrote:
The washing away of sins, is a sign of the blood cleansing you of your sins. Yet the beginning of that is repentence which is professed by breaking water again as a testimony of your rebirth. A person is not saved by water alone though. It is the first step in the plan of the kingdom. As John said, I baptize with water but the one after me will with the Spirit and fire. John's baptism is the beginning of the gospel of Christ. So should we follow our shepherd or try to go some other way? The necessity of baptism does not contradict faith. James 1:22 - But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves The Word testifies that Christ broke water again and we are to follow our shepherd. They spoke of Israel being baptized by the cloud and the sea. This is the same. They were baptized in the red sea, at the beginning of their deliverance from Egypt (water). Which is a like figure to Christ. We being in our bondage to sin (Egypt/ our land of bondage). Christ came to lead us out as did Moses. Our beginning is water as well in His name. And as John said, another comes after. The anointing of the Holy Spirit depicted by the Cloud. For we are lead by the Spirit of God from that point. Just as God lead them through the wilderness in a cloud by day and a pilliar of fire by night (Holy Ghost and fire). 1 Corinthians 10:1-2 - Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; You notice sea and cloud. Not just cloud, but water as well. God has a pattern. I will get to some more of it later, God willing... With Love, |
