ArchivedSin: Are we reconciled or are we not?*sigh* I would venture to say that God, the author of the Bible, is not the one telling you that you don't have to read the Bible. That would be counter-productive. As Jesus said, "a house divided against itself cannot stand". As long as it's not out of context. Ok, so here you're saying that it is possible for a Christian to sin. But you qualify the statement with the phrase "to him". Is it only sin in the Christian's eyes, but not in God's? Or is it a sin in God's eyes, too? I would think God would have a higher standard than men. And here you are saying that you are a Christian, and you cannot sin because all Christians are born of God. Anyone born of God cannot sin, so therefore you believe that it is not possible for Christians to sin - a contradiction to what you just said in the sentence before. if only..... .... or from post to post; or from sentence to sentence. And here you're saying that if someone has sin in their life, then they are not and never were saved. Before, you said that if a Christian thinks that they've sinned, then they have sinned. But now you're saying that if they think they've sinned then they were never saved in the first place (an impossibility, btw, because the Holy Spirit is the only one that convicts men of sin, and if you don't have the Holy Spirit, there's no way you would feel convicted). So, let me put the question out there for you one more time: Can a Christian sin? You, obviously, believe that you (personally) can't sin - I'd be interested to talk to your spouse, btw, to hear what he/she says about that. I know that I sin. I do not continue in sin, however - I feel convicted and I seek repentance when the Spirit convicts. So, tell me..... what of me? Am I not saved because I sin every once in a while? Have I never been saved? Do I lose my salvation each time I sin? Or am I still saved, but just backslidden for a time until I seek repentance? |
