This is touching on something else I've been thinking about.
Just how human was Jesus?
Sometimes I think people tend to overlook the Humanity of Jesus. I'm not in any way trying to take from his divinity, but I do wonder just how much he knew about his purpose, and about if he could ever sin. Take the classic example of anger being a sin, but then have Jesus throwing the money changers out of the temple.
People seem to think it's a problem to have Jesus as something less than absolutely divine. Issues such as "God going to the loo", or "whether Jesus had children" keep cropping up in material I read. I personally believe that whilst Jesus was on earth he was just as human as the rest of us. I bet he got bullied as a kid, and wanted to fight back. And maybe even fancied the girl next door. And I'm not suprised he got angry occasionally. It's his resistance to these temptations that sets him apart.
What ramifications this has on his ability to be a blameless sacrifice I'm not sure. Your thoughts, I'm sure, are forthcoming......
For starters, what about:
How human was Jesus out of 10?
0 being God himself. 10 being you and me, tempted and capable of sin every minute of every day.
Cheers
Nick
