ArchivedWhy pray to Mary?Aieno Wrote: If you read my post, you would have clearly seen that I said The idealized form of English is "the King's English," , I didnt mention King James! Its a matter of speech, when I used that term. For example, we in the UK have no king at the moment so we would say, Aieno speaks the "Queens English". Aieno Wrote: I was asked something and I responded, it has nothing to to with Catholicism, its just fact that the English word "pray" originally simply meant "ask,". St Paul doesnt mention to whom we are limited to ask intercession of, does he? Aieno Wrote: The Bible forbids conjuring up the dead. God forbade the people of Israel to use the pagan practice of mediumship as a means of getting supernatural information, telling them instead that he would send them prophets. There is a big difference between humbly asking a departed loved one to pray for you and trying to conjure them up to pump them for information. Saying, "Mary, please pray for me " is not the same as holding a seance, and that is all there is to it. Only conjuring up saints and angels is forbidden by the Bible. Talking to those in heaven is not forbidden. In fact, it is encouraged, for in the Psalms we pray to the angels to ask them to join us in worshipping God: Again, do you have any Scripture that indicates asking for intercession of the phyically dead is unbiblical?
