The Bible speaks of a Jewish nation. Any nation is made up of factions. BTW, who are you or the Pope to tell an ethnic Jew who is a Zionist that he/she is not a Jew? Do you have direct access to the mind of God?
The bible probably does speak of a Jewish nation, however I believe it is not this present nation or generation that should be ruling Israel, as the Messiah has not returned to establish his kingdom their.
I have my own opinion to who a Jew may be. The Pope is the Vicar of Christ on earth so his statments mean a lot to me and to all Catholics.
I do not necessarily have to agree with the Popes comment, but I happen too!
What you believe and the false Vicar of Christ believes is immaterial. The return of the Jews to the Promised Land was fortold in Genesis
after a worldwide dispora. The shephard is locating and returning His flock to the sheepfold.

The Jews started returning to Israel in the 1800's. With the establishment of the Nation of Israel in 1948 God is keeping or fulfilling His promises to Abraham and Jacob (Israel).
The biblical passages you have shown can mean different things. For example, I too believe God will return the Jews to their homeland
BUT only upon his return, and not one second before.
The Jews started to return to Israel even slightly before then but they didnt show the intention of trying to take over the land, they were there buying property etc...
What is your
interpretation of Genesis 28?

You can call them Zionists or Orthodox Jews they are one and the same to God.
Actually Zionists are not the same as Orthodox Jews. Orthodox Jews hold onto their Jewishness tightly, they are extremely religious etc...
Zionists on the other hand look like Jews yet most of them in actual fact are Atheists.
God sees these Atheists as Jews? Really? the same thing?
No! They are different.
To you and much of the world Judaism is a religion. To God the Jews are a people, a race, a nation: His people, race, and nation. If you take the time to study the OT prophets God discipline His apostate children and still called them His own. Your hatred of Zionism is blinding you to God's truth.
Did you know Zionist oppression of Jews in Iraq including the unwilling expatriation of Iraqi Jews from their homeland to Israel?
If you consider this wrong what are your thoughts about Arab men coming to America, marrying American women and the kidnapping their children when they return to their native land? Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black again.
Torah Faithful Jews
demonstrate on the streets of Jerusalem
Torah or Talmud and Mishnah faithful Jews? If they are Torah faithful and deny the prophecy found in Genesis then they are the same people Jesus refers to in:
Matt 15:7-9
7 "You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
8'This people honors Me with their lips,
But their heart is far away from Me.
9'But in vain do they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.' NAS
All I can say is that is a bit arrogant of you and any Pope who thinks you can decide who God views as Jew or not a Jew. The requirments for being a Jew are in the Torah, so if those pictured are "Torah observant" and they deny the ethnic origins of the Zionists they are not practicing what they read.
The only people who speak for God are His prophets and I don't see any modern day prophets among us today.
