I think that most people who claimed to have converted on this forum...o well....may be not honest about their claims.
I believe that switching faiths take a very long time to happen. Being satisfied with your own faith from the beginning is not Ok with me personally. I believe all should study and understand.
Christianity may appeal to people because it offer salvation, but they also forget that Islam offer salvation. One more thing I have noticed here is that people don't understand "THE WILL OF GOD" when they read the Quran and what is meant by it.
Also, many people grow up on a lot of misconception about their religions which would lead them one day to abandon it. That is kinda pitty I believe.
I have watched those videos and found most of their claims belong to some Islamic sect way off orthodox Islam. This 51% pass thing is kinda funny.
Apart from the many Quranic verses that speak of God as merciful, I will quote some HADITHS QUDSI:
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah said:
When Allah decreed the Creation He pledged Himself by writing in His book which is laid down with Him: My mercy prevails over my wrath.
It was related by Muslim (also by al-Bukhari, an-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah
On the authority of Uqbah ibn Amir (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the messenger of Allah say:
Your Lord delights at a shepherd who, on the peak of a mountain crag, gives the call to prayer and prays. Then Allah (glorified and exalted be He) say: Look at this servant of Mine, he gives the call to prayer and performs the prayers; he is in awe of Me. I have forgiven My servant [his sins] and have admitted him to Paradise
On the authority of Abu Harayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet , who said: Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said:
Spend (on charity), O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.
On the authority of Abu Harayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet , who said:
Allah (glorified and exalted be He) has supernumerary angels who rove about seeking out gatherings in which Allah's name is being invoked: they sit with them and fold their wings round each other, fillin that which is between them and between the lowest heaven. When [the people in the gathering] depart, [the angels] ascend and rise up to heaven. He (the Prophet p.b.u.h.) said: Then Allah (mighty and sublime be He) asks them - [though] He is most knowing about them: From where have you come? And they say: We have come from some servants of Yours on Earth: they were glorifying You (Subhana llah), exalting you (Allahu akbar), witnessing that there is no god but You (La ilaha illa llah), praising You (Al-Hamdu lillah), and asking [favours] of You. He says: And what do they ask of Me? They say: They ask of You Your Paradise. He says: And have they seen My Paradise? They say: No, O Lord. He says: And how would it be were they to have seen My Paradise! They say: And they ask protection of You. He says: From what do they ask protection of Me? They say: From Your Hell-fire, O Lord. He says: And have they seen My Hell-fire? They say: NO. He says: And how would it be were they to have seen My Hell-fire: They say: And they ask for Your forgiveness. He (the Prophet p.b.u.h) said: Then He says: I have forgiven them and I have bestowed upon them what they have asked for,and I have granted them sanctuary from that from which they asked protection. He (the Prophet p.b.u.h) said: They say: O Lord, among then is So-and-so, a much sinning servant, who was merely passing by and sat down with them. He (the Prophet p.b.u.h) said: And He says: And to him [too] I have given forgiveness: he who sits with such people shall not suffer.
On the authority of Abu Harayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Prophet said: Allah the Almighty said:
I am as My servant thinks I am (1). I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assemble better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a fathom's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.
On the authority of Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet is that among the sayings he relates from his Lord (may He be glorified) is that He said:
O My servants, I have forbidden oppression for Myself and have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another. O My servants, all of you are astray except for those I have guided, so seek guidance of Me and I shall guide you, O My servants, all of you are hungry except for those I have fed, so seek food of Me and I shall feed you. O My servants, all of you are naked except for those I have clothed, so seek clothing of Me and I shall clothe you. O My servants, you sin by night and by day, and I forgive all sins, so seek forgiveness of Me and I shall forgive you. O My servants, you will not attain harming Me so as to harm Me, and will not attain benefitting Me so as to benefit Me. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as pious as the most pious heart of any one man of you, that would not increase My kingdom in anything. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as wicked as the most wicked heart of any one man of you, that would not decrease My kingdom in anything. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to rise up in one place and make a request of Me, and were I to give everyone what he requested, that would not decrease what I have, any more that a needle decreases the sea if put into it. O My servants, it is but your deeds that I reckon up for you and then recompense you for, so let him finds good praise Allah and let him who finds other that blame no one but himself.
From the Quran:
[2] who believe in the unseen, observe the Contact Prayers (Salat)*, and from our provisions **to them, they give to charity.
[2] And they believe in what was revealed to you, and in what was revealed before you*, and with regard to the Hereafter, they are absolutely certain.
[2] These are guided by their Lord; these are the winners.
[2] As for those who repent, reform, and proclaim, I redeem them. I am the Redeemer, Most Merciful.
[2] Those who disbelieve and die as disbelievers, have incurred the condemnation of GOD, the angels, and all the people (on the Day of Judgment).
[2] O people, eat from the earth's products all that is lawful and good, and do not follow the steps of Satan; he is your most ardent enemy.
[2] He only commands you to commit evil and vice, and to say about GOD what you do not know.
[2] When they are told, "Follow what GOD has revealed herein," they say, "We follow only what we found our parents doing." What if their parents did not understand, and were not guided?
[2] The example of such disbelievers is that of parrots who repeat what they hear of sounds and calls, without understanding. Deaf, dumb, and blind; they cannot understand.
[2] You are not responsible for guiding anyone. GOD is the only one who guides whoever chooses (to be guided). Any charity you give is for your own good. Any charity you give shall be for the sake of GOD. Any charity you give will be repaid to you, without the least injustice.
[2] Charity shall go to the poor who are suffering in the cause of GOD, and cannot emigrate. The unaware may think that they are rich, due to their dignity. But you can recognize them by certain signs; they never beg from the people persistently. Whatever charity you give, GOD is fully aware thereof.
If you want to be guided God will guide, but if you don't want to be guided? What would you think? Didn't God give you a brain to use? Didn't he give you the will to choose? Then if you refuse, what else could be said here?
Everything is under the will of God. God knows what you will choose and according to your choice God will pay you. Whether you choose good or choose badly, it is still under the will of God because he gave you that will to choose. His will is for you to have a will, and it is under his will.
In Islam, faith is the most important thing. Faith will lead you to good works. And why not do good things? You're faith in God will lead you to care for orphans, pay charity, help people, BE A GOOD PERSON. A person of God. Is that bad?
Why do we say we are not sure whether we will go to heaven or not? If we know that God forgive all sins, then how can we not be sure? It is because we don't know what the future on this earth hide for us. You could be living the most wonderful life in the site of God and just before you die you disbelieve, that is an example. That is why we always ask for forgiveness and we know God will forgive us. Of course you can't fool God. You as a person can judge yourself according to what you have learned in your religion. If you lived all your life a good person why would you not go to heaven? If you truly know you are good, then why not be sure? As a matter of fact every righteous Muslim know that for a fact, but he still ask for forgiveness 1000 times a day. And yet everything goes back to the will of God, and what is it? Is it not written in the Quran that righteuos people will be saved? Yes or No? It is a YES.
Remember, Isaiah and Jeremiah when they saw the glory of God, those great prophets thought they were doomed, they were the closest to God at their times and yet they thought they were doomed. Even Jesus called himself not good. That is the attitude of true Muslims.
The way I personally see it, and Islam should not be judge according to it is that I see that in CHristianity your salvation is earned, but in Islam, YOU EARN yours. I see it as a lazy doctrine, because if works are not necessary then what is the point of being a person of God. I know that some will disagree, but that is how most Christians perceive it, and I think it's wrong.
I hope you guys understood what I wrote up there, was typing pretty fast . But if you have any questions I will gladly answer.
