Free For all - Open Discussions and DebatesI am confused[/quote]What is superstition? If you accept superstition to mean mans attempt to explain what he cannot explain then science fits the definition of superstition. Science cannot prove an old age for the earth, the universe is expanding, or macroevolution. All of these are accepted by faith in the infallibility of science to theorize what cannot be tested. Actually, I have been reading the Setterfield site with interest. I've chosen not to comment specifically as yet because I'm still looking at it. There are many fascinating theories about the nature of time. Some scientists suspect that there is no such thing as 'time', rather that it is some kind of subjective phenomena, perhaps associated with the way the brain processes information. Certainly 'time' is an extremely elusive property. However, if a 'scientist' insists on regarding Genesis as a factual account without any rational evidence, I'm not surprised he would be rejected by his colleagues for adopting such an unscientific stance. As I said before, science and superstition are fundamentally incompatible, and you cannot have such a thing as 'superstitious science', that's an oxymoron. Where exactly have I been guilty of name calling?! I have frankly expressed my opinions on the various viewpoints I have encountered, but I haven't insulted anyone with derogatory names, so in what way have I violated the forum rules? |
