How is it possible that in Genesis, the Devil said to Eve,"for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof[the tree], then your eyes shall be opened, and ye will be as gods, knowing good and evil." Now how is it possible that the Devil told the truth[knowing good and evil] when Jesus said that there is no truth in the Devil?
You need to read the whole account before you start drawing conclusions.
Gen 3:1-7
3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?" 2 And the woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said,' You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.' " 4 And the serpent said to the woman, "You surely shall not die! 5 "For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." 6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. NAS
Many people believe that "die" means physical death; but in reality it means "spiritual death". Adam and Eve died spiritually the day Adam choose Eve over God. If you continue reading this account God set an angel to guard the tree of life so humans would not live forever.
Satan did lie to Eve. As to Satan being the father of lies; liars can also tell the truth when it will advances their agenda of selling a lie or turning mankinds attention from God to themselves. He tried this same tactic when tempting Christ.
