Read the last sentence of my previous post. Antiochus Epiphanes In 168 B.C. desecrated the Temple in Jerusalem by setting up an altar to Jupiter Olympus, where he dedicated the use of the Temple to the idol by offering up the flesh of a swine. This was the 'abomination of desolation' of Daniel 11:31, also try reading 1 Mac. 1.41-64. "His armed forces will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress and will abolish the daily sacrifice. Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation." Daniel 11:31 Again In 63 BC, the Roman general Pompey desecrated the Temple by entering the Holy of Holies. The "abomination of desolation" that Jesus mentions (Matthew 24:15) is the desecration of the Temple and the destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman armies in AD 70 by Titus. I did say in my previous post that; The abomination was completely fulfilled when Roman idols and pagan symbols were placed in the temple in 70AD by Titus. I will comment on the rest later, as time is "of the essence" at the moment. |
