The New Covenant is found in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which, is the Lord writing His Covenant in our hearts and minds.
James said, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point HE IS GUILTY OF ALL. For he that said, Do not commit adultery (#7), said also, Do not kill (#6). Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law." James 2:10,11.
"...for sin is the transgression of the law." 1 John 3:4.
Those who continue in sin, shall not ENTER heaven, that, is what Jesus said in Matthew, and John said in Revelation.
Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."
How do we know that we love Jesus and our brother?
"By THIS we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For THIS is the love of God, THAT we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." 1 John 5:2,3.
The Apostle Paul said, "Do we MAKE VOID THE LAW through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law." Romans 3:31
"Shall we continue in sin ("the transgression of the law") that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" Romans 6:1,2
We are to die, DAILY, to the world the flesh and the devil - that, is what the circumcision of the heart and sanctification is all about. The Law, continues to be our schoolmaster, on a daily basis, to bring us to Him - it reveals His standard of righteousness and our failure to meet it.
He said, "A NEW HEART also will I give you, and a NEW SPIRIT will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put MY SPIRIT within you and CAUSE YOU to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments and do them." Ezekiel 36:26.27. (From the inside/out)
In Psalm 119, the word, "word," is used, interchangeably with, "judgments,""statutes," "testimonies," "commandments," "law," and "precepts."
In a sense, Jesus is, not only, the Word, but, the judgments, statutes, testimonies, commandments, law and precepts. He fulfilled the law, because there is no sin ("the transgression of the law") in Him.
He give us His Spirit of Grace (Hebrews 10:26-31), to empower us to walk in His law - His righteousness.
"Oh how I love thy law! It is my meditation all the day." Psalm 119:97.
Why? Because it leads me to Him!
