Trinity DebateIs the Holy Spirit the 3rd person of the Trinity? What's silly is that you claim to understand the Trinity when clearly you don't. The Holy Spirit is 100% God, not 33% God. The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and is of the same nature as the Father, so understands the mind of the Father. The Spirit is our helper, our advocate, whom the Father sent to us. This is God, correct, but in this sense. The Spirit is more or less an "extension" of the Father remaining in a spirit form and possesses personality. That's a crude way to state it. I understand what is stated by Paul, the guy who supposedly only supports you're little theory. 5 Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus, 6 Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. 7 Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance, 8 he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. The NAS states: who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, I'll keep this short to stay on topic, although this is kinda. Jesus was in God's form, no surprise to me, in His preexistent Godly glory and became a servant and did the Father's will, and now we all know Him and worship Him. he was somewhat hidden from man's knowledge in the OT days. Paul was referring to people who worship corruptible men and animals as the God. Jesus, who actually is God, and man for a short time, to worship Him like we do isn't the same thing. Your about .5 degrees from accepting the Trinitarian Holy Spirit, suprise. It's a matter of understanding that the Father and Spirit are two personalities, that's all you need to do here. Jesus is another story, and the evidence for His God nature is very evident. Don't think about personalities here in some kind of uncomfortable way, all it means is that the Holy Spirit is an active real prescence of the Father who knows the Father's will and mind (He shares the same mind as the Father), and responds. Jesus "personified" the Holy Spirit when He described Him. matthew 29:18 shows a more pronounced distinction. |
