looking,
The process of becoming a ‘believer’ or, more accurately, a ‘true worshipper’ can be compared to the process of becoming a world-class athlete. Our adversary is supernatural; in order to be successful against him we must become the equivalent of a world-class spiritual athlete. Now consider this: who works harder the trainer or the athlete in training?
Perhaps if you understand the issues involved you will understand why God does not take people by the hand and physically or mentally put them on the ‘narrow road’ nor does he allow Satan to take people by the hand and physically or mentally put them on the ‘broad road.’ That would be the equivalent of ‘pouring your head full’ and it is not going to happen that way. I know you are struggling, frustrated, most likely confused, and possibly even angry. That is normal and understandable. There is no sin in that but there can be a sin in it if you were to allow those feelings to cause to develop within you the attitude of blaming and/or wrongly challenging God, what the Bible refers to as “testing” God.
This is where humility comes into play. At this point in time God is not going to provide anyone with a ‘personal revelation’ or a ‘private inspiration.’ He has already “revealed” and “inspired” and provided it to us. We must humble ourselves and accept that situation. If you are repelled by the actions of those that claim to represent God do not make the mistake of holding that against God and his Word. Put the blame where it rightly belongs—with those men and their deluded and mistaken understandings upon which they act. Reject all of that but do not reject God and his Word. (John 17:3, 17: 3 This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ. . . . 17 Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth.)
At the same time you should remember that God does use men! (Amos 3:7: For sure the Lord does not do anything without making His plan known to His servants who speak for Him.) There are “true worshippers” that do in fact rightly represent God. God has promised this and is providing it as we speak. You are capable of identifying them by comparing their fruits to the “fine fruit” revealed in the Bible. Again I caution you not to reject God’s help provided within the Bible and through his servants. (Matthew 24:45: Who are faithful and wise servants? Who are the ones the master will put in charge of giving the other servants their food supplies at the proper time?)
