ArchivedComparing and Contrasting Polytheism to ChristianityI'm sure you know the Old Testament teaches there is one God ( i.e. Isaiah 43:10-11, Isaiah 44:6-8 ) yet it still makes the prophecy of the virgin born child being called "Mighty God" (Isaiah 9:6). And the first two passages that were given you are ascribed to Jesus also (Him being Savior and the Alpha/Omega). And the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct (Luke 3:21-22, John 14:16-17). There have been many attempts to describe the Trinity (Matter-solid,liquid,gas; Universe- time, space, matter; etc). But I would rather bow the knee seeing that no one can fully understand the nature of God. And this is an acceptable thing and the most reasonable conclusion one can make. "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,'' says the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9) Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor? Or who has first given to Him and it shall be repaid to him? For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen. (Rom 11.33-36) |
