Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesI need some advice!Jehovah's Witness' use there own translation of the Bible, it is called the New World Translation. Apparently JW's believe that if they live a good enough life they will be one of the 144,000 mentioned in Revelation. My oldest brother married a JW and converted, so I asked my brother how he thought he could be one of the 144,000 based on the Biblical description of these men. Here are vs. 4 & 5 from the NWT: My brother has been married 4 times, has 4 children and I know for a fact he has lied during his life, so he does not meet the qualifications. It has been over 20 years since I asked this question and he has steadfastly refused to discuss this or the Bible with me ever since. And this is not the only question I asked that he could not answer. One has to do with Greek grammar and the NWT translation, which totally ignores proper translations principles of Greek into English. As to how to witness to a Witness you can find some good material online by doing an Internet search using this search string: witnessing to a jehovah's witness. But my experience is that when you start asking questions they hit the road. |
