ArchivedSemi new here still just kinda overlooked this place.I understand your different perspective of it. I accepted both God and the bible as being true, particulary God, as a child but when God didn't come "rescue" me I tossed both. As it contains the history of man both past, present, and future it seems one would either have to accept it as false during all times or true for all times, or a mixture of truth and lies throughout. I believe the bible to be different in that aspect, as the manuscripts documenting it are numerous and have stood throughout time, being copied repeatedly yet retaining the same message and stories throughout with only extremely small variances, which never affected doctrines or anything other than minor words/spellings. The men's lives who wrote it have been studied and verified, and are accepted as such by even non-Christians. The argument most people who have studied is not whether or not Jesus or the men inspired to write the people lied in what they wrote or possibly didn't exist, but whether or not Jesus is who he said he was. Either he was who he claimed to be, or he had to be the most evil person that ever existed. He claimed deity, and founded the Christian church which is still in existance and growing today. If who he claimed to be is false than the word has experienced the biggest conspiracy theory we have or ever will have seen on this earth, involving multitudes of witnesses and a vast array of people from all ages and stations who supported his lies and witchcraft. Is it possible that could have happened? I don't think it is. The closest we come to having seen that happen is through Joseph Smith's false introduction of Mormonism, but it is fairly easy to discount that for what it is. (although I will admit, having believed in Joseph Smith before, it IS a very tempting belief system!) LOL. No. Eve was created as a helper and companion to Adam. It doesn't make the worth of women any less, or their role in life any less important. It is said that women are to let men be the spiritual leaders in their homes, and that women should not teach men in church. The bible also teaches men to love their wives and both are to cherish the other. And women are not capable of becoming life bearers without men. As far as nourishing, that idea could be said to be outdated by the invention of formula. Men and women in society are now seen as being equal emotional and nurturing influences on children. No, not really. Jesus said that if he wanted, the rocks themselves would speak out to witness for him, but he has chosen us instead to do that. In light of those words, it seems probable that every person capable of hearing and understanding has that chance given to them before death. However, it isn't an issue I've really studied, and as I said before my views are by far not agreeable to most other Christians. It's not spelled out clearly in the bible IMO, so I don't see it as an issue that's very important to me or something I've needed to really look into. There's plenty enough things as a Christian I need to spend my time doing and learning, if this was an issue of major importance that we needed to know we would have been told. I'm satisfied with trusting that however it happens, God is fair and just in carrying it out. I understand that. I felt the same way until about age 11. God would be all I had to cling to, but he wasn't doing much for me IMO, and it ticked me off and that's when I became angry. Later instead of being angry I tried to make myself believe he wasn't true. It worked kinda sorta, but I did end up settling for belief in a vague unknown higher power as I couldn't keep denying that there was "something out there bigger than us". The way you were taught is contrary to the bible. Chrys |
