ArchivedSemi new here still just kinda overlooked this place.Yes. For the Christian, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. "2 Corinthians 5:6 (KJV) Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:" Part of this is tied up in the trinity. We are created in the image of God, who is in 3 parts. Body, soul, and spirit. Our bodies now are corruptible and will die. Yes. I believe the words of God in the Holy Bible that tell us that there is a heaven and there is a hell, and hell and all that is in it will be cast into the lake of fire after the final judgment. The only way avoid hell and the lake of fire is redemption from our sins, which was provided by Jesus at the atonement and on the cross. I don't know. The bible doesn't describe either much apart from saying that heaven is in the presence of God (eternal life=with Jesus) and that hell is in the absence of God (eternal death=separation from Jesus). Unlike many Christians who seem to believe we'll spend our afterlives in heaven for eternity, I believe that earth will be rebuilt and we will live here, on this new earth, with access to heaven. I understand the concept, although I do not agree. The Holy Bible states that neither are attained until after death. I also believe that no person will be in heaven who hasn't believed in Jesus as the son of God and the sacrifice for our sins. I don't believe that any good works will help a person out in determining their spiritual place after death, HOWEVER! I believe that living right and doing work is evidence of belief. I'm not God, I cannot say who truly does and does not believe, but the way someone lives gives a pretty good clue. That said, I also don't believe that these works count a bit if the person doesn't believe, if they do it for any other name but Jesus it is idolatery. (the worship of a false God) I also believe in last minute redemption: like the story of the thief on the cross in the Holy Bible. He had no good works, but while he was on the cross beside Jesus he expressed his belief in Jesus, and was saved. He was told "today you will be with me in Paradise". So, salvation is by faith alone through Jesus alone. Chrys |
