Science, Creation & EvolutionAtlanta Scientist and an Editorial on Evolution vs. IDDisagree: Scientists want to keep science in science and faith in faith. It's Creationists who want to bring faith into science. For example: in the other thread where your debating Jim. He believes that God started the evolution process with the big bang. He's disagreement with you is based on the 7-day issue. I would be equally as opposed to teaching children that 'God' lighted the 'spark' and started the Universe. Why: it's still a matter of 'faith' that he did so not scientific evidence. The bottomline I think in this argument is that if YE Creationists, Old Earth Christians who believe God started the Universe ticking via the big bang or like the Q in Star Trek willed it into existence in 6 days and want to believe such and it gives them solace -- I say GREAT! I've even heard the 'in-between argument from some Christians who believe that a day=unspecified # of Billions of years, but when trying to explain it to the people who wrote the bible, simpliefied the concept. I don't believe either as a matter of fact. The issue is when people want to take the aforementioned into schools and secular life as Science is where everyone gets upset about it. |
