Science, Creation & EvolutionAtlanta Scientist and an Editorial on Evolution vs. IDWell....Not necessarily...Because it can be argued that humankind were a SPECIAL creation that had to actually follow the physical laws of the universe to manifest in this way. Some schools of thought hold that we as SOULS inhabited three dimensional bodies instead of actually manifesting as spirit without the constraints of the physical after a "fall" in the spirit that necessitated us to be caught up in the TRULY physical cycle of materiality. If I'm not mistaken, I believe an early form of Christian sect called the Gnostics believed in reincarnation and held a viewpoint somewhat similar to this.... I'm not trying to postulate a superior argument in PLACE of the more commonly accepted denominations of Christianity, but it IS still possible for there to be other beliefs that could still harmonize with science. Although unprovable, they would not necessarily be invalidated either. See, if you give the possibility that the Bible is not a specific literal translation of all truth, then the INSPIRATION behind it can still be held up to a different standard. It IS reasonable to assume that there is fault in language and context that changes among generations, and we are talking MANY generations here.... I just want to introduce the point that there doesn't have to be a "False Dilemma" fallacy. It doesn't HAVE to be one or the other. There could be other possibilities that does not completely invalidate Christian scripture. |
