Science, Creation & EvolutionWhy is Academia evolutionist?Tommy J wrote:Joe, I'm an atheist and either argument makes no sense to me. To me either:
(I know I'm breaking the rules about pure science, sorry)
1. There's a God. He/She/It created the Universe, the earth and so on. Such an omnipotent being would take the least effort to do such, not billions of years on the chance the humanity may or may not evolve. (Why take the chance we wouldn't have come into existence otherwise)Thus, evidence would exist that we've existed for a short period of time. (which of course it doesnt) Like the Q as depicted in Star Trek, it blinked us into existence as well as everything else.
2. There isn't a God. Billions of years ago the Universe came into existence via a tremendous explosion. Over time the Galaxy's formed as well as the planets and suns. In our solar system by an incredible stroke of luck the ingredients for life existed in the right amounts. By another stroke of luck (unlike most every where else in the Universe) an extinction level event only occured 1x with the Dinosaurs which allowed us to evolve into the dominant species of the planet. We became intelligent and now are able to discover and review the facts of our planets/solar systems/galaxy's/Universe History.
#2 is more probable to me
To me the illogical Christian chooses #1. He or she believes an omnipotent being would take the harder and less sure path to our existence.
JM: Hmm, I'm not sure you are making sense either, but do appreciate your comments. Omnipotent being means there is no such thing as a 'harder and less sure path'.
