Christian/Muslim ThreadsIf Jesus Christ Is begotten does that mean he had a beggininIn the Name of Allaah...
Again to say Jesus is the only begotten son is to say that Allaah (God) cause Jesus to exist, Jesus was sired, produced or created into the world which brings to my general point that Jesus had a beginning. In lame men terms for instance in the Websters dictionary: Etymology: Middle English begeten, alteration of beyeten, from Old English bigietan -- more at GET 1 : to procreate as the father : SIRE 2 : to produce especially as an effect or outgrowth - be·get·ter noun hmmm~! liberate don't try to hide or give a explanation for the scholars who put in words that don't suppose to be there. I mean this is your 'holy book' you and the scholars are playing with. Remember Jesus allegedly said in revelations Revelations 22:19 "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." See this is confirms Deuteronomy 12:32 "What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it." This game of inserting and taking away has been going on for quite some time now and the now it's out in the open about the deletions, insertions...etc Begotten where did it go? Example in the Revised Standard Version John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." Begotten:In the King James Version in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." There you have it and there you don't. What type of games are your scholars who translate the bible are playing is beyond me. From my understanding those 32 Scholars and 50 Churches agreed that the King James Version has serious defects that led to them Revising the King James Version. They agreed that 'begotten' was a fabrication and they expunged it in the Revise Standard Version. To say Jesus is the only son of God is to say that Jesus is a righteous person, prophet, messenger of Allaah (God). Many upon Many people, prophets and even nations were given the title or name 'sons or son or even god' According to the language of the Jew if one is called son of God it means nothing more than a title and honor it signifies nothing of deity. Jesus even emphasized this understanding in John 10 In John 10:32-40 "32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? Reference Psalms 82:6 "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High." 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Allaah (God) called them 'gods' and the word of Allaah (God) came and the scripture cannot be broken, yet when Jesus the Messiah comes whom Allaah (God) sanctified and sent into the world, the Jews blasphemest because Jesus is said that he's the son of Allaah (God) when others were called 'sons of God, son of God, children of God even given the name god. 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. 39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand, 40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode. According to the Oxford Companion to the Bible: "The sons of God (or children of God; 'bene elohim' and variants) ...The title 'sons/children of God' is familiar from Ugaritic mythology, in which the gods collectively are the 'children of El'...The sons/children of God are also found in Phoenician and Ammonite inscriptions, referring to the pantheon of sub-ordinate deities, indicating that the term was widespread in the West Semitic religions." - Oxford Companion to the Bible This language of son of God or god or children of God wasn't anything new to Jesus nor to the Jews. Jesus spoke the language the Jews understood well. They rejected the message of course but the point is Jesus wasn't no different from the rest of the sons of God metaphorically. And they (Jews, Christians and pagans) say: Allâh has begotten a son (children or offspring). Glory be to Him (Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). Nay, to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth, and all surrender with obedience (in worship) to Him. (Al-Baqarah 2:116) They (Jews, Christians and pagans) say: "Allâh has begotten a son (children)." Glory be to Him! He is Rich (Free of all wants). His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. No warrant you have for this. Do you say against Allâh what you know not. (Yunus 10:68) And say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, Who has not begotten a son (nor an offspring), and Who has no partner in (His) Dominion, nor He is low to have a Walî (helper, protector or supporter). And magnify Him with all the magnificence, [Allâhu-Akbar (Allâh is the Most Great)]." (Al-Isra 17:111) And to warn those (Jews, Christians, and pagans) who say, "Allâh has begotten a son (or offspring or children)." (Al-Kahf 18:4) Glorified and High be He! From 'Uluwan Kabîra (the great falsehood) that they say! (i.e.forged statements that there are other gods along with Allâh, but He is Allâh, the One, the Self-Sufficient Master, whom all creatures need. He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none comparable or coequal unto Him). (Al-Isra 17:43) And they say: "The Most Beneficent (Allâh) has begotten a son (or offspring or children) [as the Jews say: 'Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allâh, and the Christians say that He has begotten a son ['Iesa (Christ)], and the pagan Arabs say that He has begotten daughters (angels, etc.)]." (Maryam 19:88) And they say: "The Most Beneficent (Allâh) has begotten a son (or children)." Glory to Him! They [those whom they call children of Allâh i.e. the angels, 'Iesa (Jesus) son of Maryam (Mary), 'Uzair (Ezra), etc.], are but honoured slaves. (Al-Anbiya 21:26) He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Who has begotten no son (children or offspring) and for Whom there is no partner in the dominion. He has created everything, and has measured it exactly according to its due measurements. (Al-Furqan 25:2) "Allâh has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allâh)?" And, verily, they are liars! (As-Saffat 37:152) "He begets not, nor was He begotten; (Al-Ikhlas 112:3) |
