Christian/Muslim ThreadsThe trinity?
The Greek word monogenes is used by John to convey only the unique relationship between God the Father and Jesus as the son of the Father. It spearates Christ as the only Son of God in comparison to the many sons of God. It is written:But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12 Those who believe on the only Son of God become sons of God, whereas Jesus was always the Son of God, Eternally begotten, if Jesus were to be a created being then the term begotten would not have to have been used. Jesus said,"And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."Luke 23:46 The eternally begotten son existed in the bosom of the Father since eternity:No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. John 1:18 The word begotten is also used to further emphasize that Jesus came out of God who always existed with him and when He came out he was begotten, and when he had gave up the ghost he returned back to the bosom of the Father.
Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Hebrews 7:3 Made like unto the son of God or on Psalms 110:The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. Psalms 110:4 Son of God here means that he was fashioned like unto a mere human being. After the order of Melchizedek indicate a distinction between Melchizedek and Christ. The name Melchizedekmeans"King of Righteousness"The Jebustite kings of that area used compund names such as -zedek for their titles. Example adoni-zedek was a jebusite king in that same city.
