Christian/Muslim ThreadsThe trinity? :: Re: TRINITYRe: TRINITY Some ancient manuscripts contain this passage and some don't. But it all depends on what text-type you are translating from. The King James version comes from the Byzantine text-type. The verse from 1 John 5:7 was found in old manuscripts, but not the oldest ones which come from the Alexandrian text-type. Has it ever occured to you that their are going to be variants in the Bible? Especially, since it is a book handed down through different generations? Ofcourse a very old text-type might have verses missing, because those manuscripts do get old and beat up. But those missing verses are recovered when looking at the more recent old manuscripts. Finally, even with all the manuscript evidences combined, they agree 98% despite the descrepencies. The overall message is not lost at all. And the accuracy is amazing despite the fact that these manuscripts were found in different languages, different times, and different regions. Finally, even without 1 John 5:7 in the Bible, the Trinity is still supported by many other verses. 1 John 5:7 would be one of the last verses I would mention to support the Trinity anywayz. |
