What the church feels about them is immaterial, the fact is the church father's were not in agreement. Prior to Constantine and the establishment of the 5 Patriarchies there was only one universal Christian church. The schizms that resulted after Constantine moved the capitol to Constantinople resulted in what is known today as the Roman Catholic Church and the various Orthodox churches. Now can we stick to the topic of the thread, which is the development of the canon? |
