Archived7th century timelineLady Fatima, You said This is true history tells us that when the different books that make up the bible was translated the priests that was doing the translating was under great distress on what to write. If they didn't write what the King or whoever wanted to hear they could have been beheaded or worse. Also you can find many Christians who think that God wrote the Bible (I have to stop and laugh here because just last week my sister called me and said Did you know that God didn't write the bible?) Many Christians believe that God inspired the writings this I think is more accurate but still then we get into translations so we would also have to believe that God inspired the translators and as you said some words have different meanings in translation such as the word "we". We don't have one universal language and meanings of words change over time. (Remember when hippy meant big in the hips). Do you use these books also in addition to the Quran as to your beliefs or just as reference? As per say all of our books are combined and called the "Holy Bible" (mind you I know at this point this was published this way by man?) As for the Quran am I right in understanding the Muslims believe that God handed Mohammed a book that was already written? If so what language was it written in? Does this language still exist? And does the original copy still exist? I would like to share with you 2 books that are very special to me also, If you have the time you might want to read them too. I found some links to the books on line for you. I don't use these links I use an oxford study Bible for these books. http://www.sacred-texts.com/bib/apo/es2.htm and http://www.sacred-texts.com/bib/apo/tob.htm Although I enjoy both books I do understand that they are not part of your religious heritage (persay) just as the Quran is not part of mine but you might try as I do and ask for understanding before reading them. I do understand that they were translated by man and many translations exist. But I also believe that God does not intend for us to be ignorant if he did he would have never given us the ability to learn. Tobit was one of the first books I discovered as part of the Apocrypha to me it reads as a novel. I hope you enjoy and look forward to hear what you think. Also If you have any questions about my beliefs I would be happy to try and expand on these for you. As long as we can remain non argumentative. Do you have a link or link to what you would think is a good translation of the Quran I found one online and do not want to quote from it only because as you said it could be what man has translated and as in the original post here you can see man has his own oppinions.
