From a biblical view.
Hell was created for Satan and his angels who rebelled against God. I am sure they also raised up a lot better arguments then we can here against the punishment! So how do you justify it to the rest of the angels who didn't join in the rebellion? The concept is simple, create us Humans who don't know much about life after death except that we surely all will die one day and then give us free will to make choices either for Good or for Evil. Set up the chess board and let the game begin.
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
In this life we all make the same choices as Satan did or does and will make. We disobey God and look out for number 1, which is ourselves and any one of us is capable of becoming the next Hitler. We all have it in us. But we also have the same free will to make the choices not to sin and to obey God. Our lives on this planet is the testimony that justifies Satan and his angels being thrown into the lake of fire for ever. Sin is shown for what it really is, Evil
in the purest form!!! With that being said so how does eternal punishment become justified for us humans also? It's the testimonies of billions upon billions that will also justify the punishment for us. When all of our personal hidden thoughts and the forgotten ones which really we don't want nobody to know about and when every little deed is exposed of our lives it will be a very sad day for all of us.
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Those billions upon billions of testimonies will also be compared to testimony of just 1 person, Jesus Christ who never sinned! Everybodies testimony will be compared to his, even those who has never heard of him. God says in romans that everybody is without excuse.
For I am not ashamed of the testimony of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
