Christian/Muslim ThreadsChristian vs Islamic EschatologyThis thread is interesting, evidenced by the number of postings and replies to ursus.
In answering ursus, after reading all his postings (he joined 9/03/05, day of his first posting) we should answer him as if he is a Christian and/or a Muslim, he can be an adherent of either. Truth seeker was right in throwing doubt on the real motive of ursus postings.
I can plainly see a lame wolf in sheeps clothing.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.

This statement proves that you are indeed arrogant and only seeking attention.
Quote:
Dr. Lewis Pulstin, Cornell University
Statement regarding the study of social attention seekers.
"Social attention seekers are individuals who attempt to enter a group with two opposing sides. The seeker will makes claims to belong to one of the groups, then attempt to "rock the boat" so to speak, to turn both groups against each other; while never belonging to any of the groups in the first place. This is a behavior attributed to the lack of attention from one's parents; having received from his or her adolecence."

My first posting will be to show that ursus is right on two points (doen’t mater his background):
1. ursus is right in that the Greek philosophy has an effect on the Christian theology. This is in the methodology not the doctrine. Thus the background of the Western Christian Theology is Arsitotle’s philosophy based on analysis and seeking proves. Evidence: Stigmata are known in the Catholic Church but not in the Eastern Churches. The Dear Lord answers all those who seek him. Thus a Catholic who asks the Lord for Stigmata, would be granted his/her wish. Example: Father Pio of Italy in 20th century.
On the other hand, the Eastern Church is more of a Plato methodology, based more on faith. Though there are no known Stigmata cases in the Eastern Church, but there are other ample examples of the strength of faith. Both churches of course display the strength of faith. This last point is well shown in many aspects, but for the purpose of this thread suffix to mention miracles and apparitions.
Saying all above, Aineo was right in that Greek philosophy, if taken as a religion not methodology, can lead to Gnostacism. However, you can still learn from their writings.
2. ursus is also right in that doubt comes to one. The answer is to pray and ask the Lord to help us to understand. When Jesus met the two disciples on the road to eamuas, He explained to them the scripture. Only when he broke bread did they recognise Him.
A point mentioned about the Greek language and the Bible. Well, Greek was the language of education even in the Roman Empire, The School of Alexandria was teaching in Greek. Most of the writings of the Early Church Fathers were in Greek.
