Archived7th century timelinePeace Annie, So the Priests wrote according to the desires of their King? Like, the King James Version? These were inspired books revealed before the Quran. There were also many others, but they are not mentioned. We believe that the basic teachings of all revelations were the belief of one God, and this is the message that all the Prophets brought. The Gospel, the psalms, and the Torah were only meant for their people and only for a certain period of time. The Quran, on the other hand is meant for all mankind, and will be with us until the judgement. These 4 books, their teaching are present in the Quran, and it is in our belief that the Quran is a natural progression of these books, like Muhammad is a natural progression of all the prophets. It’s just that the Quran brings new laws and new wisdom, but the basic message is the same; One God. But the Protestant don’t include these 7 extra books in their “holy Bible”. So you can’t possibly suggest all Christians have one “Holy Bible”. No. The Quran was taught to Muhammad by the Angel Gabriel, and the scribes would write down what he dictated. The Quran was revealed in a period of 23 years. The Quran was written in Arabic, and it’s the same Arabic that we recite till this day. If you go to the Museums in Britain and Turkey, they have extracts of the Quran dating back to the time of the prophet. Also What I hold today in my hand is the same Quran that was read by the companions of the Prophet. It’s a promise by God Almighty: "We (Allah) have, without doubt, sent down the Message (The Noble Quran); and We will assuredly Guard it (from corruption).” (15:9) I personally use a collection of different translations. You have to understand that translating the Quran is extremely difficult because the Arabic is so superior. In some cases there is not even an English word to describe what the Arabic is saying. The commentators translate the Quran according to their understanding and grasp of the Arabic language. The Hadith are separate from the Quran. The Quran is entirely God’s word. The Hadith on the other hand, are the traditions of the prophet. There are many fabricated hadiths, and there are also many authentic hadith. The hadiths are very important, because they teach us many aspects of Islam, such as the way to pray, how much we should give in charity and many other things. Scholars say that without the hadiths, there wouldn’t be Islam. To be a Muslim, one has to believe in the Quran and the Sunnah (the ways of the prophet- ie hadiths). As I have already stated, there are Muslim Jins, but there are also Jins that are unbelievers who have their own belief. The Jins have free will, and that Satan is of the Jin, which is why he disobeyed God. We don’t believe he was “fallen angel” because the angels do not have the free will, as human beings and Jins. And Allah knows best Peace and Blessings be to the Believers |
