Archived7th century timelinePeace Believer, How does this verse serve as a warning to me? Jesus said "bring them here, and kill them before me", this verse is talking about those present at that time. The people that he meant was the scribes and pharisees, which were his enemies. When the Quran warns of the torment of Hell, it's speaking to all mankind, not just to a few people who were present in the time of Muhammad. I do reject Jesus (peace be upon Him) as king. Why?Because God Almighty is the King of all. That explanation that you gave me, was for the verse that spoke on division. But in this verse, Jesus claims that he has not brought peace, but a sword non taken I don't deny that Jerusalem was a dangerous place. However, did not Jesus already know that? Why did he tell his desciples to buy swords, even if it meant selling their garments? Why the sudden urge to possess swords? Why take them to Gethsemane? Jesus was going to face "the trangessors". In verse 38, when Jesus instructs his desciples to buy swords, they give the reply that they already have 2. And he says "it's enough". Why should 2 swords be enough? The reason is that Jesus was not contemplating a battle against the legions of Rome. Since his "friend" Judas was in league with the Temple authorities, he was expecting a clandestine, underhand attempt by the Jewish oligarchy to seize him. It would be a question of Jews against Jews. In such a battle against the Jewish temple servants and the riff-raff of the town, he would prevail. Of that he was sure. He had with him Peter (the Rock) and John and James (the sons of Thunder) together with the other eight, each vying with one another to go to prison for him; to die for him. But I am told that there was a willing contract between Father and son, that Jesus was going to die for the sins of mankind. However, what your telling me now is that Jesus didn't really want to die, but that he was forced to. Why would God Almighty, kill his own "son" when that "son" himself doesn't want to die. This is injustice, isn't it not?. Is the father that incapable of punishing the evil doers, that he has to forcefully take his own "son" and have him killed? Peace and Blessings be to the Believers |
