Hi annalovesbooks and welcome to the freejesus forum,
Well your question sure is an interesting one and I must admit on first reaction, I wonder if your source wasn't a mormon.
The Bible speaks most specifically of the Middle Eastern Countries as the place where civilisation started and from where it spread around the world. Most countries do not rate a specific mention, although in the prophecies that relate to the endtimes, many believe that places like Rome are mentioned, as are possibly other countries. (Some have mentioned Russia and China throughout the years, but this is all speculation).
Now, in the New Testament Gospels, Jesus states that He will go to other sheep as they must also hear the Gospel. The Mormons teach, and I'm not sure if it is in the Book of Mormon or their Pearl of Great Price, but it's definitely a teaching, that Jesus actually went to North America to preach the Gospel.
I suspect, that when they suggested in the forum you read that North America is not mentioned in the Bible, it may have been a means of introducing their belief that NA is mentioned in the Mormon religious books. I may of course be wrong, but that is my suspicion.
I live in Australia, and Australia is not mentioned in the Bible either specifically. However, the Bible abounds with assurances that God created the whole world, and that we can go no where without His eyes being on us and without Him being in control of what goes on in ALL nations, even those who don't claim a belief in Him. Even though many specific nations are not mentioned, the Bible includesreferences to all nations in other ways.
In many places, the word used for nations, is actually individual people groups or language groups. The wonderful thing about God, is he doesn't even just look at the continents or the countries and have an interest in an entire population. He actually is interested and concerned with every individual people group or language group, even when there are only a handful of speakers of that language left. Christians are told to go and tell the Good News about the Gospel to all language groups in all countries.
annalovesbooks, I hope that this helps a little. I haven't put a lot of Bible verse references in as I don't know what access to the Bible you have. If you would like more specific information, let me know and I will do some more research for you.
