Child Molestation is a Sin!The Homosexual Link To Pedophilia? Are you suggesting to me that the original bible in fact isn't dusty? O: Are you suggesting that Jesus' disciples were scholars, and not fisherman, as the bible claims? I'm sure you know the history of the bible better than I do, so could you please enlighten me as to who exactly wrote it? As a modern elitist, I'd like to know. Are you saying that the people who wrote the bible were educated then? Hence their ability to craft the bible? In any case, I'm sure you do agree that the bible was written by people right? So my point still stands: I don't understand why people would choose to follow the advice of people who lived thousands of years ago. They knew less about the universe than we do now, and their cultures are outdated and dead. Sorry if I sounded rude in my last post; I just can't stand to see people go "Ah, I have a problem. Instead of using my own common sense to decide what is right and wrong, I'll consult the Bible!~! " Our knowledge base as a race expands and develops all the time. Because of that, what was considered "good" even a short 200 years ago is considered horrible now. The Bible is a static book; it doesn't update as fast as our cultures do (as it doesn't update at all.) Because of this, it isn't always a good source of moral advice, in my opinion. The Bible is a good, inspiring book, even if it isn't true. But jjf1990's question irked me; of course the bible favors the bible! But just because the bible says "ACT LIKE THIS!" doesn't mean people (even Christian's) should. Left-wing Christians exist for a reason; they're clever enough to realize that the bible wasn't written word-by-word by God. They accept that a good deal of the bible should be taken figuratively, or even ignored fully. The Bible has been passed down for awhile now. Things have been changed, omitted, or added during it's life. It cannot have an answer for all of life's problems. That's all I was saying in my original post. So there you go Aineo; I solved your mystery for you. Care to return the favor now, and solve mine? I'm still curious. |
