Viper, the old testament prophecies that Elijah the prophet will come:
Malachi 4:5 > Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
Now, I suppose if you were living in those times you would say that this is a black and white interpretation. Elijah will really come physically. But how did Christ interpret such a passage?
For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come. (Matthew 11:13,14).
Notice Christ said "if you are willing to receive it" because he knew there will be some that will doubt that John the baptist was the Elijah to come, seeing that the interpretation was not literal, but has spiritual implications. In many ways you are acting like the unbelievers of the new testament in the Bible.
The point here is this, many of God's truths are deep. Not all truths are black and white. But you have to be careful because your reaction in ignorance, God will judge. If something is difficult for you to accept, then that does not mean you are right by saying it is wrong. It just shows you are ignorant. The same applies to Christians. We are ignorant in many things, but that just shows God's infinite mind. Our belief in God does not make us weak minded, it makes us realistic, because the truth is, even scientists do not understand it all -- and ignorance does not disprove anything. Tell me in a time without the proper resources that the earth was a globe and we were held down by gravity, I probably would not have believed you, but that did not mean you were lying.
In saying these things, if anyone has any complaints against interpretations or the way God does things, it is due to ignorance.
