Apologetics Forum: Ask questions about Christianity/Debate doctrinesChrist onlyThe above is quoted from Discipleships.net where he quotes Paul. When you read the rest of the page it is peppered with quotes from Paul's epistles. This quote from theophile.us is a total perversion of what Jesus said in Matthew 5, Matthew 22, and Luke 14. In Matthew 5 Jesus said He had not come to abolish the Law, therefore to hate one's parents would require we disobey God's Law. Also in Matthew 5 Jesus tells us to love our enemies. In Matthew 22 Jesus told the Pharisees to "give unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's" thereby affirming that we as Christians are under secular authority in matters that do not pertain to worshipping God. |
