Christian/Muslim ThreadsCHRIST IN ISLAMI am not going to take the time to defend the Bible, just as you refuse to discuss the inaccuracy of the Qur'an. However I will comment on this: I get this from God's prophets, the same prophets Allah tells Muslims they are to believe (at least according to you). When Muslims say the Bible has been corrupted you lie since you cannot prove this allegation. Isaiah (one of the prophets you say you are to believe wrote: Isaiah 7:13-16 13 Then he said, "Listen now, O house of David! Is it too slight a thing for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God as well? 14 "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. 15 "He will eat curds and honey at the time He knows enough to refuse evil and choose good. 16 "For before the boy will know enough to refuse evil and choose good, the land whose two kings you dread will be forsaken. NAS Isaiah 9:6-7 6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this. NAS Isaiah 28:16-18 16 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed. 17 "And I will make justice the measuring line, And righteousness the level; Then hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters shall overflow the secret place. 18 "And your covenant with death shall be canceled, And your pact with Sheol shall not stand; When the overwhelming scourge passes through, Then you become its trampling place. NAS Isaiah 42:1-3 1 "Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold; My chosen one in whom My soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the nations. 2 "He will not cry out or raise His voice, Nor make His voice heard in the street. 3 "A bruised reed He will not break, And a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice. NAS Isaiah 49:1-6 1 Listen to Me, O islands, And pay attention, you peoples from afar. The LORD called Me from the womb; From the body of My mother He named Me. 2 And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; In the shadow of His hand He has concealed Me, And He has also made Me a select arrow; He has hidden Me in His quiver. 3 And He said to Me, "You are My Servant, Israel, In Whom I will show My glory." 4 But I said, "I have toiled in vain, I have spent My strength for nothing and vanity; Yet surely the justice due to Me is with the LORD, And My reward with My God." 5 And now says the LORD, who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant, To bring Jacob back to Him, in order that Israel might be gathered to Him (For I am honored in the sight of the LORD, And My God is My strength), 6 He says, "It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also make You a light of the nations So that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth." NAS Isaiah 50:5-6 5 The Lord GOD has opened My ear; And I was not disobedient, Nor did I turn back. 6 I gave My back to those who strike Me, And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting. NAS Isaiah 52:13-15 13 Behold, My servant will prosper, He will be high and lifted up, and greatly exalted. 14 Just as many were astonished at you, My people, So His appearance was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men. 15 Thus He will sprinkle many nations, Kings will shut their mouths on account of Him; For what had not been told them they will see, And what they had not heard they will understand. NAS Isaiah 53 1 Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of parched ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we should look upon Him, Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him. 3 He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. 6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off out of the land of the living, For the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due? 9 His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth. 10 But the LORD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand. 11 As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors. NAS Isaiah 61:1-3 1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives, And freedom to prisoners; 2 To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, 3 To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. NAS We know based on the Dead Sea Scrolls that the book of Isaiah we have is accurate and predates Christianity. One of the Psalmists who was also a prophet wrote: Psalms 2 1 Why are the nations in an uproar, And the peoples devising a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand, And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed: 3 "Let us tear their fetters apart, And cast away their cords from us!" 4 He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. 5 Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury: 6 "But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain." 7 "I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'Thou art My Son, Today I have begotten Thee. 8 'Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Thine inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Thy possession. 9 'Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron, Thou shalt shatter them like earthenware.' " 10 Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth. 11 Worship the LORD with reverence, And rejoice with trembling. 12 Do homage to the Son, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him! NAS What is amazing to me is that if you believe that God created all that exists from nothing but He is unable to miraculously father a child. God can do anything He pleases and to deny this is to limit God’s sovereignty. What would be laughable if it was not so tragic is what the Qur’an tells Muslims concerning Mary, the Lord’s mother. The Catholic/Orthodox churches appeal to myths, legends, and fairy tales in an attempt to show that Mary was ever virgin. Their main source is the Protoevangelium of James, an apocryphal account of Mary’s conception and dedication to the service of God. Mary was chosen of God to be the mother of the Lord, but she was not a perpetual virgin. Mary gave Joseph 4 sons and 2 daughters, which is confirmed by another prophecy concerning the Lord Jesus Christ. Psalms 69:8 8 I have become estranged from my brothers, And an alien to my mother's sons. NAS Jesus’ brothers did not accept Him as the Messiah until after His death and resurrection. You keep bringing up what the Catholic and Orthodox churches believe in spite of the fact Jesus Christ Forums is not a Catholic or Orthodox message board. If you want an explanation of what these sects believe you need to go to a Catholic or Orthodox board. What I find hypocritical about your response is you trash Christian sectarianism when Islam is so fractured by sectarianism that Sunni’s and Shiite’s are killing each other for political and religious advantage. The Qur’an tells you to accept the People of the Book but what do modern Muslims do?
Other instances of Muslim persecution of Christians based on Islamic lies concerning Jesus and God’s revealed truth: Documenting the Persecution of Christians in the Islamic World You insist that lying is prohibited by Allah, however: Jesus said Satan is a liar and the father of all lies. John 8:43-44 44 "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies. NAS Now, you can promote your lies until the Lord comes again but your lies will only ensure an eternity is the lake of fire. The Qur'an is filled with historical inaccuracies that are evident to anyone who know anything about real history. Islam like Catholicism has tried to rewrite history to advance its own agenda of world domination. However, all who deny Jesus is Lord and God's anointed King and chosen Savior for those who believe God's truth will regret accepting myths because they refuse to believe His truth as recorded in His word the Bible. |
