ArchivedWho is God?Why? Because I feel that people should believe whatever they want to believe as long as it makes them happy and harms no one? I am the first to criticize religion when it causes violence and suffering and I believe that no religion is more valid than any other. But science, philosophy, all things that are products of human cause violence and suffering as well. The only true cure would be to extinguish the human race. Religion is not always truthful as I'm sure you and I agree. But that is not its point. Its purpose is to give people a passion to live their lives. Perhaps your right, and everyone who is religious lacks the strength of logic and morality that you possess. Perhaps they are flawed. But you cannot blame them for that any more than you can blame a poor man for being poor. Let them believe their "lies" if you wish to call them that. You can pity them. And they will pity you as well. Religion causes a lot of problems in the world. But even if it were completely eliminated, there would still be elitism, greed and oppression. Many of our modern day problems stem from the secular ideas of the Enlightenment. Religious fanatics who kill, maim, or harass people who don't agree with them should be locked away in prison to protect society. But those who harm no one should be left in peace. All your doing is claiming superiority over those who believe differently than you. And in doing so, you become just as intolerant as the gods of religion who condemn heretics. You are a victim of secular fanaticism my friend. Unfortunately, you're at the same level as those you criticize. |
