Re: The Ten Commandments
herald wrote:We are not to judge one another concerning sabbath days - the feast days that were fulfilled in Christ. This has nothing to do with keeping the Ten Commandments.
Come on herald that is not what Paul wrote. Anyone with a desire to understand God's word knows that we are not under the law, a concept that can be found throughout the OT and the 10 Commandments are part of the law.
Are you implying, that, if under the New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34) where He writes His laws upon our hearts, we can worship other gods, graven images, lie, steal, murder, commit adultery? Why, then, can we disobey the fourth commandment with impunity.
Well, for one reason keepping the Sabbath is not found in the NT, even Jesus violated the Sabbath by gleaning and healing the sick.
There are two churches mentioned in the final book - Revelation: "Mystery Babylon" - the "Whore" and her daughters - the denominational system, that, has departed from the Word of God, alone, to it's man-made traditions. Referring to this wayward system, Revelation 14:11,12 reads, "And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have NO REST day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."
Are you implying that not keepping the 4th Commandment equates to the mark of the beast?
But, of God's remnant people, it reads,
"Here is the patience of the SAINTS: here are THEY THAT KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, AND THE FAITH OF JESUS."
And what did Jesus teach are the two commandments upon which the law and the prophets are built? The first is love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul and the second is love your neighbor as yourself. I don't see keepping the letter of the law in what Jesus taught especially since Jesus lived the spirit (not the letter) of the law.
All through the New Testament we are told to keep the Ten Commandments. Are we saved by the law? No. Keeping the Ten Commandments is the evidence, that, His law is written upon our hearts (the New Covenant - Jeremiah 31:31-34). We cannot live the christian life in our own strength - that, is what the law reveals, but, when we live in the power of the Holy Spirit, grace enables our obedience and covers our nakedness.
And what saves us since as you state no man is saved by the law? This can be answered in one word and that word is faith, which transcends the law. Paul wrote in Galatians the law is our tutor that leads us to Christ and once we are part of Christ we no longer need a tutor. I would say your understanding of the Scriptures is flawed.
Isaiah 66:22,23 reads, "For as the NEW HEAVENS and the NEW EARTH, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one SABBATH TO ANOTHER, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord." The Sabbath will be kept in the new heavens and the new earth.
Since time will have no meaning in eternity I really doubt your interpretation is valid.
It surprises me to see the lack of reverence for the Word of God. Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." What more can any man add? The Lord Jesus Christ told us to keep His commandments.
"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"
That, is cheap grace...the grace of God demanded incomprehensible sacrifice from Him. If we can't, even, set aside one day in every week to focus on Him, and ministry to others, how do we think we would ever stand up to persecution?
I discern you are 7th Day Advantist, which is a cult, which denies salvation by grace through faith by appealing to legalism. And I will repeat Jesus taught that the whole law and the prophets are built upon two commandments that do not include the 4th.
Come out of her, my people."[/quote]
