James 2:8 If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing well. NAS
I fail to see where James 2:8 points us to the 10 Commandments. In fact "love your neighbor as yourself" is a
new commandment Jesus gave during His earthly ministry (John 13:34). Also Jesus places "love your neighbor as yourself" second only to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul" (Matthew 22:37ff). Paul expands on this in Romans and Galatians:
Romans 13:8-10
8 Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. 9 For this, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; love therefore is the fulfillment of the law. NAS
Galatians 5:14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, " You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 15 But if you bite and devour one another, take care lest you be consumed by one another. NAS
