izzat, now you are purposely misquoting me. I do not have a problem acknowledging that the Catholic Church went to extremes to combat the atrocities of some Muslims. I also acknowledge the fact that Christian nations went to war against other Christian nations in order to gain control over land and wealth. However, would you care to show me in the New Testament where Jesus or God commanded Christians to commit atrocities to spread Christianity?
The United States is a secular government where all religions are accepted and treated as equals under the law, can you say the same for countries governed by Islamic law? No you can't. I am sure you despise the U.S. for invading Iraq but then you consider the U.S. a Christian nation so anything done by the U.S. is attributed to Christianity, which is nothing more than Islamic propoganda. Many Arab nations condemn the U.S. for supporting Israel, which is nothing more than hypocrisy based on what the Qur'an teaches concerning the Jews (the people of the book). Iraq has written its own constitution and has the right to govern itself as its citizens see fit. Maybe that is what has the Islamic world so upset; you don't want a real demoncratic Arab nation in the Middle East. You want the U.S. out of Iraq then work to get the Islamic terrorists who are killing more Arab Muslims than American soilders to cease and desist their fanatical murdering of Iraqi women and children in the name of Allah. The vast majority of Americans want an end to the Iraqi war, a war that was started because of an egomaniacal Muslim who murdered his Muslim citizens. Maybe we should have invaded those nations that encouraged those who flew 4 aircraft into the World Trade Center, the Pentegon, and a field in Pennsylvania and bombed U.S. military barracks and embassies. Say what you want about our military presence in other countries but that military presence is because of terrorists (mostly Muslims) who think killing innocent non-combatants glorifies Allah.
And in case you forgot John Paul II apologized to the Arab world for the atrocities committed by Catholics during the Crusades. In other words he acknowledged the Catholic Church was wrong, but like I posted this is ancient history.
