Archivedadam and eveNo problem Nick, I didn't take any offence. Human race would have started as perfect since God made everything good. Since the expulsion from Eden we no longer have access to the Tree of Life, hence the deterioration. We need God to sustain us, that we can agree upon. So what happens to us when God removes our sustenance? We perish. Removing air would kill us in minutes... Removing water would kill us in days... Removing food would kill us in weeks... Removing telomerase would kill us in a lifetime. Add radiation to the atmosphere, we deteriorate... Add free radicals to our water, we deteriorate... Add free radicals to our food, we deteriorate... Add viruses to our genome, we deteriorate... The prevalence of DNA-hostile substances is increasing, we are deteriorating. In Noah's day, there were less of these things to be concerned about hence the long life. In our day, there are more of these things to be concerned about hence the shorter life. Also, after the flood the lifespan of the human decreased drastically. It is clear that some major change must have occured in order to cause our genome to become less stable. It may be that more radiation could get through to the earth's surface after the flood. Or that the flood did something else and uncovered DNA-hostile substances, or removed many DNA-friendly substances like telomerase-containing vegetation. Given enough time we wouldn't neccessarily devolve, but our DNA would be corrupted to the point of not being able to sustain the human population. But I should imagine that the Lord will have returned before that happens. . |
